Nitrile
A widely used ram packer compound for water-based and oil-based drilling fluids.

Moss Seal supplies ram packer seals for blowout preventers and other well control closures, where the element must seal around pipe or across an open bore on demand and hold against full wellbore pressure. These are safety-critical parts: the rubber is bonded to steel inserts, shaped to the ram block, and compounded for the well fluids, temperature, and pressure it will see. We supply pipe ram, blind ram, and shear ram packers matched to your equipment and service classification.
ENGINEERING
A steel-reinforced elastomer element is extruded into the sealing gap by ram closure force and then energised further by wellbore pressure.
Elastomer is bonded to metal inserts that control how the rubber flows under load. The inserts hold the element in the ram block, resist extrusion at the ends, and set the shape the rubber takes as it is squeezed.
Closing the rams mechanically compresses the element until it contacts the pipe or the opposing packer. Wellbore pressure then acts on the element and drives it harder into the gap, so the seal tightens as pressure rises.
Compounds are selected for the specific well environment, covering H2S and sour service, CO2, drilling and completion fluids, and high or low temperature extremes where standard nitrile would harden or swell.
