Custom Molded Shapes

Moss Seal produces custom molded rubber and polymer components for applications that no catalogue part fits: complex profiles, bonded assemblies, odd cross-sections, and parts that have to package into tight or irregular spaces. We work from a drawing, a sample, or a description of the sealing problem, and take the part through tooling, compound selection, and first-article inspection to repeatable production.

ENGINEERING

Cross-section design & operation

Geometry, compound, and tooling are developed together, so the finished part fits the cavity it has to seal rather than forcing the design around a stock profile.

Tooling

Compression, transfer, and injection tooling are selected from part geometry, volume, and tolerance requirements. Prototype tooling allows form and fit to be proven before committing to production tools.

How it works

The part is designed around the real gland or cavity, so sealing surfaces, compression, and retention are controlled by the component itself instead of by adapters, shims, or stacked standard parts.

Materials and volumes

The full compound range is available, including bonded rubber-to-metal and rubber-to-plastic assemblies, and we support low-volume replacement runs for legacy equipment as well as ongoing production quantities.
