Glass-filled PTFE
Glass fibre raises compressive strength and reduces cold flow while largely retaining PTFE’s chemical resistance.
Moss Seal machines and supplies composite sealing components in filled PTFE, PEEK, and reinforced thermoplastics, used where an unfilled polymer lacks the strength, wear resistance, or dimensional stability a gland demands. Fillers such as glass, carbon, graphite, bronze, and moly change how the base polymer behaves under load, so the same geometry can be tuned for extrusion resistance, low friction, or thermal conductivity. We select grade from pressure, speed, temperature, and media.
ENGINEERING
A base polymer is combined with a reinforcing filler, so the finished component keeps the chemical resistance of the matrix while gaining the mechanical properties the application needs.
Glass and carbon fillers raise compressive strength and cut cold flow. Bronze improves thermal conductivity and wear life, while graphite and moly lower friction for dynamic service.
The filler carries load that would otherwise deform the polymer, so the part holds its section under pressure and temperature instead of creeping out of the gland over time.
Composites appear as back-up rings, spring-energised seal jackets, wear and guide bands, valve seats, and bearing surfaces, where a plain elastomer would extrude or a plain polymer would cold flow.
