Nitrile
Homogeneous nitrile rings seal well at low pressure in oil and water service.

Moss Seal supplies chevron (V-ring) packing stacks for reciprocating rod and piston service where a single seal cannot cover the pressure range or duty cycle. A stack of nested V-rings between a male and female adapter shares the sealing load across several elements, so each ring sees a fraction of the total pressure and the set stays effective as rings wear. We build stacks to your gland depth, pressure, and fluid, mixing fabric-reinforced and homogeneous rings where service conditions call for it.
ENGINEERING
Nested V-shaped rings are compressed between shaped adapters so system pressure spreads the lips outward against the rod and bore.
A set comprises a male adapter, a number of V-rings, and a female adapter. Ring count is chosen from pressure and gland depth, with fabric-reinforced rings carrying the high-pressure end and softer homogeneous rings sealing the low-pressure end.
Pressure enters the open side of each V and forces the lips apart onto the sealing surfaces. The load transfers down the stack so every ring contributes, rather than one element carrying the full differential.
Because the set is preloaded through the adapters, a worn stack can often be re-tensioned or have rings added rather than replaced outright, which extends service life on large or hard-to-access glands.
