Rubber Molding
Moss Seal molds elastomer seals and components when a standard part isn’t available or the application calls for a specific compound. We produce O-rings, gaskets, custom seal profiles, molded shapes, and bonded rubber-to-metal parts to your drawing, sample, or worn part, in NBR, HNBR, EPDM, FKM, and FEPM. With part design, compound selection, and molding managed by one team, we cover everything from prototypes and short runs to repeat production for pumps, valves, wellheads, BOPs, and downhole tools, so rebuilds aren’t left waiting on OEM parts.
ENGINEERING
Molding Process
Our team takes each job from drawing or sample to finished part, developing the tooling, choosing the compound and molding method, then deflashing and inspecting parts before they ship.
Design & tooling
We work from your drawing, a sample, or a worn part, reverse-engineering the profile where no drawing exists and recommending changes where they improve sealing or service life. Molds are sized for compound shrinkage, with parting lines kept off sealing surfaces where possible, and can be retained for repeat orders.
Molding & bonding
We match the process to the part, using compression molding for larger cross-sections and short runs, transfer molding for complex shapes and molded-in inserts, and injection molding for volume production. For bonded parts, inserts are cleaned and coated with bonding agent so the rubber bonds to the metal during cure.
Compounds & inspection
Compounds are matched to the service conditions, with NBR and HNBR for oilfield fluids, EPDM for water and steam, FKM for higher temperatures and aggressive chemicals, and FEPM where sour gas or amine inhibitors are present. Finished parts are deflashed and inspected against the drawing.
