Cast Polyurethane
Moss Seal casts polyurethane parts in-house for equipment where abrasion and tear resistance decide how long a component lasts. Using heated open and closed molds, we produce seals, wipers, pads, bushings, and liners to your drawing, sample, or worn part, including obsolete and non-standard profiles. Hardness is chosen for each application, from softer grades that conform and seal to harder grades that carry load and resist extrusion. Parts can be cast to size or cast oversize and machined to final dimensions, covering one-off replacements through repeat production for oilfield and industrial equipment.
ENGINEERING
Casting Process
Our team takes each job from drawing or worn part to finished component, selecting material and tooling, then casting, curing, and finish machining where needed before final inspection and shipment.
Design & tooling
We work from your drawing, sample, or worn part, confirm profile and dimensions, then select the polyurethane system and hardness for the load, abrasion, temperature, and fluid involved. Tooling is matched to the part, with open molds for pads and liners and closed molds for detailed seal and wiper profiles.
Casting & curing
Prepolymer is heated and degassed, then mixed with curative and poured into heated molds. Parts are cured, demolded, and post-cured so the material develops its full properties. Hot casting produces dense, consistent parts, and because low-pressure molds are simpler than injection tooling, prototypes and short runs are practical.
Machining & inspection
Parts needing tighter dimensions, or features that can’t be molded, are cast oversize and finish-machined in our machine shop. Every part is inspected against the drawing before it ships, and repeat orders can be cast from the same tooling and material, so replacements match the parts already in service.
