Moss Seal Company Announcement
Release Date: October 24th, 2023
In honor of the founder of Moss Seal Company George Moss, we want to notify you and express our deepest sympathy for George’s passing away on October 11th, 2023.
George was born January 21st, 1930, and lived to see 93 years, while leaving a mark on this earth with his love of life and adventure. He was well educated from the University of Tennessee and his own desire to learn about many subjects, through his appetite for reading, made him a very interesting man to talk to.
His career carried across the US and into Europe where his adventurous spirit led him to purchasing a sailboat which he sailed single handed across the Atlantic Ocean, through the Panama Canal, and into the Pacific.
George founded Moss Seal Company in 1971, and the company bears his name to this day, and has expanded from the foundation of being a distributor of rubber and plastic parts to now include custom machining of specialty parts. Due to George’s drive for perfection in everything he did, and to teach that same quality to others, is what we are most known for today.
Just two of many quotes I remember from George have helped shape my preparation to carry on George’s legacy:
“If it’s worth doing, it’s worth over doing.”
“Seals don’t leak, other things leak.”
That first one has a deep meaning once you really think about it. And the second, the meaning is seals are designed to seal, so if your tool is leaking, then it’s not due to a bad seal, but due to a poor design, wrong material, or wrong profile of your seal.
I am grateful for having known George Moss, and with the rest of the Moss Seal Company, would like to wish him farewell and well wishes to those he leaves behind him.
